Microsemi to boost expertise in optical and Ethernet communications with Centellax acquisition
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., 12 Sept. 2014. Executives of Microsemi Corp. in Aliso Viejo, Calif., seek to boost their company's expertise in high-speed analog and RF semiconductor products for the optical communications and Ethernet data communications applications with their acquisition of Centellax in Santa Rose, Calif.
Microsemi officials, whose company specializes in semiconductor solutions, announced this week they signed an agreement to acquire Centellax. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Centellax builds products for high-speed communications markets, with capabilities in millimeter-wave engineering and high speed digital design.
The acquired product lines and technology will expand Microsemi's current communications product offerings and capitalize on Centellax's optical and Ethernet data center capabilities, Microsemi officials say.
Microsemi offers semiconductor and system solutions for communications, defense, security, aerospace, and industrial applications. Products include high-performance and radiation-hardened analog mixed-signal integrated circuits, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), systems on chip (SoC), and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs).
Microsemi also specializes in power management products; timing and synchronization devices; voice processing devices; RF solutions; discrete components; security technologies and scalable anti-tamper products; and power-over-Ethernet ICs and midspans.
Centellax designs high-speed analog semiconductor products for 40G, 100G, and 400G optical communications, and RF and microwave applications, with expertise in millimeter-wave engineering and high speed digital design.
Centellax products include traveling wave amplifiers, mixed-signal design, high speed digital/analog products, and test and measurement.
