TECA introduces new, high efficiency thermoelectric air conditioners with military applications

Chicago, Ill., 13 Oct. 2012. TECA Corp., a manufacturer of thermoelectric products based in Chicago, Ill., has released the AHP-6200 family of thermoelectric air conditioners. The AHP-6200 provides cooling performance up to 5,200 BTU an hour in the 240 VAC configurations. This achievement in performance will allow broader use of thermoelectric air conditioners. The AHP-6200 air conditioners also operate at high C.O.P. values, meeting TECA's 'Green Zone' standard of high energy-efficiency.
The AHP-6200 air conditioners include TECA's exclusive temperature control design with Eco-Mode, which helps save energy by limiting the need for active cooling when it's not needed. The Eco-Mode design lowers total power consumption of the AHP-6200 by up to 75%. The Eco-Mode switches on passive cooling when the enclosure reaches 25C. Active cooling begins when the enclosure reaches 35C and, on heat/cool configurations, active heating begins when the enclosure temperature drops to 10C.

The AHP-6200 is available in ruggedized versions which are made with military-grade hot side fans for use in harsh outdoor or shipboard environments including Mil-Std 810 Corrosion and NEMA-4X. Suitable applications include enclosure cooling in high ambients and harsh industrial, military and outdoor environments near oceans and deserts such as COTS, shipboard and military embedded system enclosures. The solid-state construction is a low-maintenance solution for hard-to-access areas. There are no filters to change and no moving parts except for the fans.
AHP-6200 air conditioners are designed with a low profile, which translates into more available enclosure space. The mounting flange, gasket and hardware and centrally located power input contribute to easier installation. High air-flow fans and high fin-density heat sinks on the cold side maximize performance and minimize condensation. An integral condensate removal system absorbs condensation and transports it to the hot side, where it gets evaporated into the ambient. Customization is available for AHP-6200 air conditioners as well.
