Meggitt Sensing Systems consolidates facilities, focuses on growth in California

IRVINE, Calif., 14 Sept. 2013. Meggitt PLC, a global engineering group specializing in extreme environment components and subsystems, is expanding its sensor and electronics manufacturing and consolidating facilities in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Londonderry, N.H., into a 190,000-square-foot location in Irvine.

IRVINE, Calif., 14 Sept. 2013. Meggitt PLC, a global engineering group specializing in extreme environment components and subsystems, is expanding its sensor and electronics manufacturing and consolidating facilities in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Londonderry, N.H., into a 190,000-square-foot location in Irvine.

Meggitt officials expect to grow the company’s workforce at that facility to nearly 500 over the next five years with an investment of $24 million.

"We are strengthening our position in North America by establishing a strong engineering center with a world-class manufacturing operation," explains Meggitt Sensing Systems President Peter Huber.

Meggitt PLC provides high-technology products and systems for aerospace, defense, and other specialist markets. The companys civil aerospace presence covers large commercial transports, regional aircraft, business jets, helicopters and general aviation. In California, Meggitt has nine business locations and a workforce of nearly 2,400.

Meggitt employs approximately 10,600 people in manufacturing facilities across Asia, Europe, and North America.
