Harris teams with Cisco to provide secure wireless networking for federal intelligence

ROCHESTER, N.Y., 8 Feb. 2008. The Harris Corp. RF Communications Division in Rochester, N.Y., is teaming with Cisco Systems Inc. in San Jose, Calif., to provide Type 1 secure wireless networks for federal intelligence and civilian agencies.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., 8 Feb. 2008. The Harris Corp. RF Communications Division in Rochester, N.Y., is teaming with Cisco Systems Inc. in San Jose, Calif., to provide Type 1 secure wireless networks for federal intelligence and civilian agencies.

The two companies will provide the Secure Mobile Architecture Type 1 (SMArT-1) to help federal agencies view and share classified data over wireless information networks.

Harris RF Communications will provide SecNet 54(R) wireless encryption device, with network installation from the Harris IT Services business. Cisco will provide routers and controllers.

The combined solution will help enable federal agencies develop Type 1 wireless solutions for data confidentiality and integrity, user and device authentication, availability, asset tracking and intrusion detection. For more information contact Harris online at www.harris.com.
