Military radio contract goes to ITT for JTRS SINCGARS software upgrades and support

FORT WAYNE, Ind., 10 July 2009. ITT Corp. in Fort Wayne, Ind., won a $22.9 million military radio contract to upgrade and enhance the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) military software waveform for the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).

FORT WAYNE, Ind., 10 July 2009. ITT Corp. in Fort Wayne, Ind., won a $22.9 million military radio contract to upgrade and enhance the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) military software waveform for the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).

The JTRS program fields interoperable, software defined radio systems across several military platforms. Potential services under the contract include structured software engineering and program management processes in support of and quality software development.

The military communications contract, from the JTRS Joint Program Executive Office, is for two years with three one-year options. Its total value could ready $62 million, ITT officials say. ITT is partnering with Thales of Clarksburg, Md., to perform the work.
