WIN-T military communications satellite terminal to get upgrade from Communications & Power
PALO ALTO, Calif., 29 April 2009. The U.S. Army's Warfighter Information Network-Tacticalmilitary communicationssatellite electronics will receive an upgrade from Communications & Power Industries Inc. (CPI) in Palo Alto, Calif., under terms of a $3 million contract from DataPath Inc. in Duluth, Ga.
Communications & Power will supply Ka-band, high-power military satelliteArmy communications amplifiers to upgrade DataPath's existing unit hub SATCOM truck (UHST) satellite terminal used for the WIN-T program.
Adding Ka-band military satellite communications capabilities will enable the terminals to use the launched Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system, which increases the high-bandwidth communications capacity available to support U.S. military operations worldwide.
WIN-T Increment One UHST terminals transmit voice, data, and imagery via defense satellite, aircraft, and land-based communications systems, and give deployed forces access to the Pentagon's main information-sharing network.
