ARLINGTON, Va., 22 Sept. 2010. BAE Systems Inc. in Arlington, Va., is enhancing its expertise and capabilities in intelligence and security technologies with its acquisition of the Intelligence Services Group of L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. in Stamford, Conn. BAE agreed this week to acquire L-1's SpecTal LLC; Advanced Concepts Inc.; and McClendon LLC for $295.8 million.

SpecTal, Advanced Concepts, and McClendon are suppliers to the U.S. intelligence and defense communities that will complement the BAE Systems Intelligence & Security sector, which focuses on intelligence and counter intelligence, homeland security, law enforcement, and support to military operations.

The acquisition "will enhance BAE Systems's existing knowledge and expertise and will better position us to offer our government customers the security and intelligence support they need to complete their missions, now and in the future," says Linda Hudson, president and chief executive officer of BAE Systems Inc.

The acquisition reflects the BAE Systems strategy to enhance and grow its business in cyber and security, readiness, and sustainment activities, company officials say. This area of the business generated 49 percent of BAE Systems revenues over the first half of this year.

More than 1,000 information and security employees of SpecTal, Advanced Concepts, and McClendon will join the BAE Systems Intelligence & Security sector in Arlington, Va. The deal is expected to close this fall. For more information contact BAE Systems online at www.baesystems.com, or L-1 Identity Solutions at www.l1id.com.
