SAN JOSE, Calif., 20 Nov. 2007. Quantum3D Inc. in San Jose, Calif., announced that the Romanian army has selected Quantum3D's ExpeditionDI Un-Tethered, Man-Wearable Immersive Training (MWIT) Platform and Quantum3D's LightSpeed Image Generator Software (IGS) to assist the Romanian army in its research and development of future soldier systems.
Purchased by Romania's Military Equipment and Technologies Research Agency (METRA), the Romanian army will use ExpeditionDI to evaluate different equipment to improve training for its soldiers.
ExpeditionDI enables researchers and training system providers to integrate with software, databases, and toolsets to evaluate training effectiveness. ExpeditionDI and Quantum3D LightSpeed IGS for real-time scene-management, along with other selected game-based training tools, will provide the Romanian army with simulation capabilities with which they can identify new training technologies and test new training and operational systems prior to fielding.
As the Romanian army's R&D element, METRA's primary goal is to study, test, develop, and implement technologies in military equipment and systems. METRA purchased the ExpeditionDI system to develop a virtual-environment infantry training system, not only to train soldiers but also to keep them in touch with the latest technologies.
ExpeditionDI is a COTS, open-architecture MWIT and mission-rehearsal platform that is compatible with game-engine and conventional simulation and training software and synthetic environments including AIS SVS; Bohemia Interactive VBS2; Research Network Inc., GDIS; America's army; Quantum3D LightSpeed; U.S. army RDECOM SLIM (ESS); U.S. army RDECOM DAGGERS; and USMC First to Fight.
LightSpeed IGS is a COTS image generator software suite for embedded training applications. For more information contact Quantum3D online at www.quantum3d.com.
