Aspheres are used when the application demands more perfect image formation or tighter focusing than is possible with spherical surfaces. VLOC provides aspheric lenses and mirrors manufactured using a wide variety of substrate materials. The performance of standard spherical lenses and mirrors is limited due to inherent spherical aberration. Often, a single aspheric surface is used to provide the function of several spherical surfaces.
