CLEVELAND, 10 Oct. 2005. Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corp. announced today that last month's U.S. Department of Defense approval of full-rate production of the Bell/Boeing V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft will lead to more than $300 million in business to Eaton over the life of the program, which is expected to run through 2018.

Eaton's aerospace business is a key supplier to the Bell/Boeing team, which received government approval in September to increase production from 11 aircraft per year to 48. The current overall military procurement requirements include 360 aircraft for the Marine Corps, 50 for the Air Force, and 48 for the Navy.

The Bell/Boeing V-22 Osprey is a revolutionary tiltrotor aircraft that combines fixed-wing horizontal flight and vertical-lift capabilities in one platform that can take off and land like a helicopter and fly like an airplane.

"Eaton is proud to be a key supplier for the Bell/Boeing V-22 Osprey," said Bradley Morton, Eaton vice president and president -- Aerospace Operations. "We are providing our state-of-the-art, higher pressure 5000 psi hydraulic power generation system, as well as fluid conveyance hoses and fittings, gearbox and engine lubrication health monitoring systems and electro-mechanical components and systems."

Eaton Corp. is a diversified industrial manufacturer with 2004 sales of $9.8 billion. Eaton is a global leader in electrical systems and components for power quality, distribution and control; fluid power systems and services for industrial, mobile and aircraft equipment; intelligent truck drivetrain systems for safety and fuel economy; and automotive engine air management systems, powertrain solutions and specialty controls for performance, fuel economy and safety.
