Rockwell Collins to build aircraft traffic-management systems

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, 25 July 2005. Designers at Rockwell Collins Government Systems in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are building 60 additional global air traffic management modifications for the U.S. Air Force KC-135 jet tanker.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, 25 July 2005. Designers at Rockwell Collins Government Systems in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are building 60 additional global air traffic management modifications for the U.S. Air Force KC-135 jet tanker.

Company officials are doing the work under terms of a $9.1 million contract modification awarded July 22 from the Air Force Oklahoma Air Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. The contract number is F33657-98-C-0036, P00060.

The KC-135 is a variant of the Boeing 707 built for aerial refueling of other aircraft. Work will be finished by September 2010.
