Falcon Electric Inc. in Irwindale, Calif., is introducing the Falcon MEGA SNMP/HTTP agent remote control, power monitoring and operations system shutdown system, which consists of stand-alone external or an internal circuit card that fits into the communications option slot of any Falcon SG, SSG, or FN Series rackmount and tower uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The power control and monitoring agent enables systems to designers to connect the power-control agent to any Ethernet local area network.

Falcon Electric Inc. in Irwindale, Calif., is introducing the Falcon MEGA SNMP/HTTP agent remote control, power monitoring, and operations system shutdown system, which consists of stand-alone external or an internal circuit card that fits into the communications option slot of any Falcon SG, SSG, or FN Series rackmount and tower uninterruptible power supply (UPS).The power control and monitoring agent enables systems to designers to connect the power-control agent to any Ethernet local area network. Two USB ports on the power electronics agent accept an optional 802.11G Wi-Fi dongle to provide wireless LAN connectivity. An optional GSM/GPRS 1900 cellular modem device is available.An optional NetFeeler II device helps measure temperature, humidity, and water remotely. This module connects through an RJ45 connector on the MEGA agent. The module also can accept as many as two additional sensors: a magnetic switch to monitor door openings and a smoke detector.

Operating system shutdown client software comes standard for remote shutdown of virtual servers running VMware. Additional remote in-band shutdown clients come with the agent for MAC OS X, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Linux, and FreeBSD. For security, the MEGA agent supports SNMPv3, HTTPS, RADIUS, SSL, and Open SSL for X Windows, full MD5 password hashing, and SHA data encryption.
