CHICAGO – Littelfuse Inc. in Chicago is introducing the 59177-series ultra-miniature overmolded reed switch for space-constrained high-speed switching applications.

Applications include security and access control; metering; battery-powered wearable electronics; factory automation; process equipment; and proximity and limit sensing.

The 59177-series reed switch measures 9 by 2.5 by 2.4 millimeters, and can handle as much as 170 volts DC or 0.25 amps at as much as 10 Watts. It can operate without consuming any power in low-power applications.

The switch's overmolded design helps resist the effects of shock and vibration, and comes in an SMD package that allows for standard assembly mounting using a typical pick-and-place machine. The switch also is suitable for wet and harsh environments, and exhibits no leakage current in the open state.
