For the last couple of days, we were at CANSEC, Canada’s global defense and security trade show, which is held in Ottawa. It was another great show.
The Abaco team of Nancy VanWormer, Ioan Calapod, Michael Wurts and myself joined the J-Squared—our representative in Canada—booth for the second year. This was an excellent event for Ioan, our Canada-based FAE (photo left side), giving him the opportunity to get acquainted with the industry and meet many of our customers.
The GVC1000 was front and center of the booth, and was well received as an example of “next generation” systems from Abaco. Key customers were also excited to receive a private “sneak peek” at what is coming from Abaco in the next few months: we shared with them some revolutionary product concepts that really enthused them. Many visitors to our booth were interested in the 4DSP product introduction as part of the Abaco line-up: CANSEC 2017 was the first time we’d shown off the exciting capabilities that the 4DSP acquisition brought to us.
Our avionics team captured a new design from a major company in the IT world, and we also had an interesting discussion with an important defense research organization about a proposed radar test application based on our VP780 Virtex-7 FPGA card. Another interesting discussion with an electronic countermeasures company took place about the possibility of combining our FPGA and HPEC product offerings.
Overall, a very worthwhile event and an opportunity to connect with many of our existing customers as well as learning about several new opportunities.
