Devices are for closed-loop servo operation in laser steering, mirror positioning, optical focusing, testing, scanning, oscillation, and switching.

VAN NUYS, Calif. – Moticont in Van Nuys, Calif., is introducing the HCDS-051-051 series of eight linear open-aperture voice coil stages for closed-loop servo operation in laser steering, mirror positioning, optical focusing, testing, scanning, oscillation, and switching applications.

These compact open-aperture stages measure 10.5 inches long by 4 inches wide by 3.755 inches high. Linear DC motor driven motion-control stages are clean, quiet, and efficient, with low inertia, high acceleration, and high speed.

An integral quadrature optical encoder with differential outputs is included. Each stage has a built-in home switch for initialization on power up.

Each HCDS-051-051 stage for positioning has precision-threaded mounting holes for tooling or fixtures, and has a linear travel of 0.7 inches, a plug-and-play wired connector, and mounting holes for integration into new or existing applications.

The stages are available with a resolution of 29.5 microns, 25.4 microns, 12.7 microns, and 1 micron. Additionally, each stage is available with a continuous force of 5.2 pounds and a peak force of 16.4 pounds, or a continuous force of 6.3 pounds and a peak force of 19.9 pounds, and an optional return spring. There two sizes available for the diameter of the aperture: 0.5 inches and 0.75 inches.
