LE HAILLAN, France – Gaia Converter in Le Haillan, France, is introducing the MGDM-500 series 500-Watt military-grade isolated DC-DC converters for radar, ground vehicles, naval, avionics, navigations, surveillance, flight recorder, night vision, and intelligent weapons applications.

These power electronics devices offer a wide input voltage range and a choice of output Voltage from 12 to 48 volts DC, and switch at fixed frequency, and are based on a forward topology, and use magnetic feedback technology instead of classical opto-coupler for reliability.

The MGDM-500 series power electronics devices do not embed complex logic circuitry; they are based on double interleaved forward topology, and offer conducted noise performances.

Changing output voltages

The DC-DC converters feature several functions. The output voltage trim enables users to change the output voltage value slightly with one low-power resistor.

Users can shift the switching frequency slightly to avoid radar bandwidth or synchronize to another converter to reduce switching noise.

The power supplies have protections like soft-start for inrush current limitation, overload, short circuit protection, and over-temperature shutdown.
