AirSight and Flock integrate drone detection with law enforcement data

COLUMBUS, Ohio — AirSight in Dallas and Atlanta-based Flock are integrating drone detection with law enforcement data to give agencies a faster way to move from spotting an unauthorized UAS to finding the person operating it.

The partnership will feed detections from AirSight's AirGuard platform directly into FlockOS, the operating system agencies use to view license plate reader (LPR) data, video and other live information. AirGuard can provide information about a detected drone and, when available through Remote ID, the location broadcast by its operator.

Putting that information into FlockOS gives officers and analysts a way to connect activity in the air with vehicles and other information on the ground without moving between separate systems.

The companies said the approach could support law enforcement, correctional facilities, critical infrastructure and other sites where an unauthorized drone may require a quick response.

AirGuard brings drone detections into FlockOS

AirGuard monitors airspace for UAS activity and can provide a drone's position, altitude, heading, velocity and identification information. When available, it can also surface the location associated with the drone's operator.

Under the new integration, those detections will appear as moving assets on the FlockOS map alongside information that agencies already use during an incident.

That becomes particularly useful once a drone leaves the area or officers cannot reach its operator before the flight ends. Knowing where a drone flew may reveal that an incident occurred, but investigators still need a way to determine who was behind it.

The integration gives them another place to start. When AirGuard provides an operator location, analysts can compare that position with vehicles captured by Flock's LPR network around the same place and time. That can help narrow an inquiry from an airborne detection to a vehicle associated with the launch area.

Louisiana case shows the problem on the ground

AirSight pointed to a March 2026 case in Grant Parish, Louisiana, as an example of how operator-location data can support a drone investigation.

According to the Grant Parish Sheriff's Office, two Texas women were charged after authorities intercepted an attempt to use a drone to carry contraband into a correctional facility. The payload included methamphetamine, marijuana, tobacco and cell phones concealed inside hollow plastic crow decoys.

AirSight said its equipment at the facility detected the unauthorized device and surfaced the location broadcast by its operator. Sheriff's Office personnel used the available information to locate and arrest the suspects.

Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain said combining drone detection with vehicle information could give investigators another way to find a suspect after an unauthorized flight.

Integration could also trigger a response drone

The companies also plan to connect AirGuard with Flock's Drone as First Responder (DFR) capability. A forthcoming feature will allow a confirmed AirGuard detection to trigger the launch of a Flock DFR aircraft. That could give agencies an aerial response shortly after an unauthorized drone enters protected airspace rather than waiting for personnel to arrive at the location.

The capability remains separate from the initial AirGuard-FlockOS data integration and has not yet been released.

For agencies, the broader goal is to shorten the gap between detecting a UAS and giving officers information they can use on the ground. Drone detection systems can establish that an aircraft is present, but the response often depends on connecting that event with an operator, vehicle or location before the trail disappears.

AirSight founder and CEO Robert Tabbara said the partnership is intended to make that handoff easier by bringing drone information into an existing law enforcement workflow. The planned DFR integration would extend that approach from investigation into aerial response.
