November 27, 2018 -- By spinning off into three companies, United Technologies will continue its focus on aerospace and defense while allowing the two other groups to focus on elevators and HVAC. The absorption of Rockwell Collins into United Technologies would have had combined sales of approximately $39 billion last year, according to UT.
