FREMONT, Calif., 4 April 2008.Themis Computer in Fremont, Calif., is joining the board of directors of VITA, the open standards organization in Fountain Hills, Ariz. William E. Kehret, president and chief executive officer of Themis Computer, will represent Themis on the VITA board.

Kehret is also a member of Themis' board of directors. Prior to founding Themis in 1989, he spent more than 20 years in the embedded computing market, most of it managing the several companies he helped found.

"I look forward to helping VITA develop new standards that meet the needs of users in this market space," Kehret says. "Mission criticality has become more than a buzz word in much of the embedded marketplace.

"The increasing importance of space, weight, and power (SWAP), in challenging operating environments, brings new relevance to the thermal and kinetic management techniques -- standards that VITA has been driving -- for decades," Kehret continues. "As users require ever higher level of computing performance, it is essential that future standards guide manufacturers, as we seek to meet those demands."
